Disability Support Program
Overview
All students with disabilities are guaranteed equal access to programs and services. The Los Angeles Unified School District, Disability Support Program provides placement assistance and support to adult students with verifiable disabilities by ensuring reasonable accommodations and equal access opportunities to LAUSD adult school classes. Students may enroll in adult school classes designed to ensure a smooth transition from high school to the adult world, or may request reasonable accommodations for classes at LAUSD, Education & Career Centers.
Branch location classes focus on communication, daily living skills, and functional academics and are designed to compliment community agency programs serving adult students with disabilities.
Students who attend an LAUSD, Education & Career Center are provided job development skills and job placement services through our WorkAbility II program, in collaboration with the State Department of Rehabilitation.
Students who are employed in Regional Center vendored community care facilities may enroll in the Year One and Year Two 35-hour DSP Training to meet the California certification requirement for Direct Support Professional.
